Before being transformed into a finished product, the gold treated by SAAMP underwent a complex, ethical, traceable and responsible industrial process.
The SAAMP invites you to discover it here by opening its laboratory. All stages of the gold processing work are thus traced in all their reality and transparency.
SAAMP: The majority of the gold we sell is "recycled", it has a second life because it comes from old jewelry, monetary items, production waste from the jewelry sector, industry or industry. 'computer science. The proportion of recycled industrial gold has doubled in 10 years. Moving towards "recycled" gold means adopting a responsible attitude by helping to reduce emissions that are harmful to the planet. This clean process makes it possible to subscribe to an environmentally responsible approach, precious metals are infinitely recyclable without degrading their quality. However, we are also seeing more and more mining operations moving towards an ecological approach. These operations comply with very strict specifications that respect the environment. They are not very numerous today but it is intensifying.
SAAMP: Gold goes through several stages of transformation before the finished jewel is found in display cases:
SAAMP: We first make sure of the origin of the metals that are entrusted to us or that we buy. For the most part, the origin of metals is industrial. This is manufacturing scrap that must be recycled. For the rest, we check compliance with regulations on the part of the companies from which we buy materials. For example, we make sure that our recovery customers follow all the traceability obligations of their purchases and good financial practices. When the materials arrive at our premises, they are tracked by a batch number assigned to them and which follows them until they are grouped together to be refined.
The pure precious metals obtained are then packaged and assigned a number which will make it possible to know the day and time when they were refined and therefore to know the origin of the original materials. When the pure metals are then put together to form alloys, the same process is put in place. We assign them a cast number which is linked to the refining numbers of the starting metals. This cast number will follow the alloy at each stage of manufacture. Thus we know how to trace the entire course of a piece of wire or solder and know the origin of the metals that compose it. Obviously, at each step, samples are taken and analyzed to check the titration and the homogeneity of the material.
Our certifications show that our traceability system is correct and compliant.
Each year, we pass several audits which validate our practices concerning the traceability of our metals.
Saamp: The different materials that reach us are first assembled and standardized by a massive cast iron, which requires large capacity ovens. The Matter is then transformed into a kind of small "popcorn" by making it flow in fine drops in water. Basically, the refining process then consists of dissolving the material in highly concentrated acids. Once the material is dissolved, we will take each precious metal by a chemical reaction of precipitate then filtration. It's pretty schematic, but at the end of the process the acids are transformed, by the addition of basic elements, into salts and water. This method is quite conventional and it allows, when it is well controlled to obtain a purity of 99.99% and when it is repeated, we arrive at purities of 99.999%. For some specific industrial uses, we even achieve the purity level of 99.999%, called 5 9.
SAAMP: Our customers give us their old gold for refining. We will simply analyze their lot to immediately make gold, silver, etc. available to them on a weighted account, will allow them to obtain all of our products on contract. It could be shot, wire, plate, solder but also clasps and other findings and even finished products because we have also recently offered a range of classic all-gold jewelry. We will soon be expanding this range with an Origine France Garantie label. Metals available on the weight account can also be transferred to other weight accounts. Transfers are made free of charge if the recipient weight account is in France. Finally, it also happens that clients wish to sell the gold that they have in their weight account. We can buy them and pay for them within 24 hours, or even the same day.
SAAMP: Yes, we have requirements from certain customers, they require special manufacturing according to precise specifications. Take the example of shot for lost wax casting. These alloys are very different from alloys intended for forging or cutting work. The alloy needs very good fluidity when melting, but also they need to have good surface tension to avoid defects. With our alloys for cast iron, we are able to combine the two characteristics expected of such a product; perfect fluidity for the finest details and a flawless surface finish on smooth parts. On the other hand, the products we manufacture for bar turning must meet precise specifications in terms of hardness and resistance of materials. We must be able to make a tube 2 meters long with perfect straightness. The mechanical properties of the alloy used are very precise.
SAAMP: All our products are manufactured in our factory located on the outskirts of Lyon. We ensure 100% French production. France has long allowed its industrial fabric to disappear. We are a bit of diehards who continue to resist. Today the trend seems to be relocation and we are very happy about it.
Our know-how is an asset, but we are always attentive to the needs of our customers and we never hesitate to have new experiences. Although we already have a large machine park, we are constantly investing to improve quality and realize new products. Many years ago, France had an important know-how in the manufacture of all-gold handmade hollow jewelry. For example, we are trying to put cored or lined yarns back on the market to relaunch this activity. Fortunately, other techniques such as bar turning are still perfectly mastered in France. This sector requires high precision semi-finished products. Proximity allows immediate availability of products, much appreciated when material stocks are a drag on productivity.
SAAMP: This certification provides consumers with the traceability of a product by giving a clear and objective indication of origin. A customer who buys a luxury product wants to be assured of the origin of their precious metals. Companies certified as Origine France Garantie can provide complete and reliable information on the provenance of their products. SAAMP, offers this possibility on all its gold, silver and platinum semi-finished products. In the near future, we will also be able to offer this designation on a wider range. This label complements the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), Chain of Custody (CoC) which is an international label, essential today in fine jewelry.
SAAMP: We offer all the semi-finished products which are the basis of jewelry making and other industries. Obviously our range is limited to what we can fully control, but this is the sine qua non for having a quality offer. We therefore offer tubes, wires, planes, solders, plates, upright bars of various profiles, shot for cast iron, gold on copper plates and wires and finally shot, salts and anodes for electrolysis. Our products are highly appreciated by manufacturers, designers and brands sensitive to ethical, moral and environmental values.
SAAMP: Sometimes customers ask for specific products. As a rule, our tools allow us to respond immediately to these requests. However, there are times when an investment is necessary to make the requested model. We always consider an investment in a machine tool to be an enrichment for the company and never hesitate to do so. Our fleet of machines has been built up in this way, little by little, according to the specific requests of our customers. This is the case for our production machines, but also for our laboratory measurement facilities, our traceability and quality control processes and our research and development department. It is the demands of the market that drive us forward.
